Customer Profile
Traub GmbH, headquartered in Aulendorf in Upper Swabia, employs around 30 people and offers customized solutions across the full range of machine construction, hall construction, and metalworking. Their service portfolio includes the precise manufacturing of complex components, the processing and welding of metal and machine parts, as well as the development of custom-built solutions based on individual customer requirements.
Challenges and Requirements
Traub GmbH aimed to design a lightweight, cost-effective, yet robust construction band saw for stone cutting that could be used under demanding conditions on construction sites. A key focus was the economic dry cutting of sand-lime bricks. Processing the material in a dry state supports faster drying of the building shell, which reduces both time and cost. To guarantee reliable cutting results under the harshest on-site conditions, Traub required a development partner with deep construction-industry experience and strong technical support.
The Solution
BAND SAW BLADES THAT MEET THE DEMANDS OF ABRASIVE CUTTING MATERIALS
Because the construction industry works with many different building materials, WIKUS band saw blades offer clear advantages: high cutting performance, straight cuts, and large cutting heights.
To fully leverage these properties, Traub selected the TCT® carbide band saw blade from WIKUS. Developed specifically for mineral building materials, it meets the intense demands of abrasive stone materials with carbide cutting edges featuring extremely high wear resistance. These edges deliver strong resistance to abrasive wear, and – combined with specially optimized tooth geometry – produce outstanding cutting results when sawing aerated concrete and bricks.
Hard, Harder – Diamond-Coated for Nearly All Materials
Traub GmbH also utilizes the DIAGRIT® diamond-coated band saw blade, available in continuous, segmented, or intermittent diamond coating. This band saw blade is also ideally suited for broad use on construction sites, as it was specifically developed for the efficient sawing of sand-lime brick, natural stone, and concrete-based materials, as well as CFRP and sintered materials.
As the hardest known material, diamond is capable of cutting nearly all materials – and in the case of Traub GmbH’s sawing machine, it is perfectly suited to withstand the stresses caused by extremely high cutting speeds. With the DIAGRIT® U band saw blade, stability and speed are uniquely combined in a single blade to ensure cutting success.
