United for future: WIKUS realizes apple tree planting campaign
Acting sustainably is an important part of the corporate culture at WIKUS. Following the motivating motto “Sharing Unites”, WIKUS employees took action themselves in a collaborative planting campaign.
Spangenberg, November 2nd, 2024 – Maximum commitment, many hands, and a successful finish in record time: This is how WIKUS employees practically brought to life the family company's sustainable principles at the planting campaign in early November. Alongside and with the active support of Supervisory Board Chairman Dr. Jörg H. Kullmann and his wife Christiane, they planted 34 trees with 34 different apple varieties, making it a fruitful team event.
The campaign, carried out under the motto “Sharing Unites” (#TeilenVerbindet), was a present to Dr. Kullmann on his change of position to head the Supervisory Board in May 2024, and stands for the 34 years he has been with WIKUS. It also symbolizes future growth, as planting an apple tree generally stands for the courage to face the future with the will to act optimistically and sustainably at all times.
Green thumbs for the region plus walkable ARS NATURA art
What is also foreseeable at this point: The planting campaign will bear further fruits. The route along which the apple trees were planted is planned to become part of the ARS NATURA network. The foundation is adding artwork created by Spangenberg school and kindergarten children to the route, expanding its unique project featuring 130 works of art along the 90-kilometer X8 long-distance hiking trail, which crosses paths with its north-south variant X3 in Spangenberg.
In short: With the planting campaign, WIKUS is creating a fruitful ground in several ways to connect nature and people for a sustainable future.
