Since 2018 WIKUS has been one of the main sponsors of the business plan competition ‘promotion north Hesse’ that was initiated by the umbrella organisation of the North Hesse Regional Management.
This nationwide competition has been supporting young companies in their initial start-up phases since 1999/2000, and is one of the longest-standing active business plan competitions in Germany. The ‘promotion North Hesse’ balance is impressive. Since the competition was started, 500 companies have been founded, 300 of which in North Hesse. This has led to the creation of 2,200 jobs. Our entire region is profiting from their ideas, motivation and innovative prowess - including us, a family company.
As a member of the jury, we have direct insight into innovative business ideas and offer direct coaching. This means we can profit directly from new impulses and technological partnerships from the start-up field of the University of Kassel and the Science Park.
The winners were invited to a large ceremony in the Brüderkirche in Kassel where they received their prizes from Dr. Philipp Nimmermann, the state secretary at the Ministry of the Economy, Energy traffic and Housing in Hesse, and from Holger Schach, CEO of the company Regionalmanagement Nordhessen GmbH.
On behalf of the jury, Claudia Kaiser awarded first prize in the ‘Innovative Foundations’ category to the company doks.innovation in Kassel. The team around Benjamin Federmann develops automation and recording technology for drones that scan stocks in high-rack warehouses or large outdoor storage areas, allowing the logistics processes to be designed more effectively.
