Spangenberg, April 13th, 2022: WIKUS has undergone the assessment of the management systems quality and energy for DIN standard conformity by the certification company LRQA. Europe’s largest manufacturer of band saw blades successfully achieved recertification for its quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 and for its energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001.
The company therefore meets the highest globally recognized standards, which are proof of its high level of quality as well as excellent energy efficiency. Above all, the recertifications confirm the path of WIKUS as a future-oriented company that focuses specifically on high-quality and at the same time sustainable optimization of sawing processes in the interest of the customer.
“The pandemic-related contact restrictions demanded great flexibility from the audit team and the WIKUS employees involved. It is fantastic how routinely and goal-oriented the audits took place on site and digitally via Teams. Many thanks to all of the employees and my two management colleagues. We are pleased with our joint success.” Dr. tech. Jörg H. Kullmann, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Chairman of the board Management Division Technology and Production
The audit period was divided into several audits and extended over 7 days. During the audits, LRQA auditors were involved both on-site at WIKUS’ headquarters in Spangenberg and via digital channels. Within the framework of DIN EN ISO 9001, internal/external workflows and processes, responsibilities and competencies as well as the handling of resources are audited. In this way, the auditing company determines whether the requirements for quality management of the DIN standard are met. For DIN EN ISO 50001, a significant improvement in energy-related performance has to be demonstrated since the August 2018 revision of the standard. For example, it is no longer sufficient to indicate general improvements in the energy status. WIKUS was able to provide concrete and successful evidence of how much energy was saved through energy conservation measures and how energy efficiency was demonstrably improved. The success of the targeted energy management is now reflected in the renewed DIN certification.
In summer 2023, WIKUS will undergo the audit for the environmental management system for the first time. The focus is on environmental aspects as components of WIKUS’ activities, products and services. LRQA will then review the responsibilities and processes of the company's environmental protection system in accordance with ISO 14001, including the regulations for planning, execution and control, as well as how to define responsibilities, behaviors and procedures.
